Opened in 2008 as an urban, indoor branch of the Manzano Mountain site, THE LAND/gallery presents both documentation of projects at THE LAND and new work elaborating on site projects. Because new land-based art often explores ideas about the environment through digital and other technologies, the gallery is also important as a venue for work that relies on "indoor" media. Its downtown Albuquerque location increases opportunities for community involvement, and makes it a convenient point of entry for artists and others who want to know more about THE LAND/an art site.
